ChiP Lab — Childhood Participation Lab

Theory of change

Our theory of change sets out how the ChiP Lab programme links research activities — outcome measurement, rehabilitation trials, and clinician training — to the longer-term outcomes that matter to children with movement disorders and their families.

We work across three connected strands. First, we develop and validate measures that capture participation in everyday life, not just impairment. Second, we evaluate cognitive and occupational rehabilitation approaches in real-world paediatric services. Third, we work with NHS therapists to embed evidence-based practice through training, mentoring, and implementation support. A visual diagram of the full theory of change is in preparation and will appear here.
